What should a service website explain before a customer contacts you?

A service website should help a visitor understand the offer, decide whether it fits their need and take a clear next step. Start with scope, location, process and useful evidence. A visually polished page still needs to answer the questions that stand between interest and an enquiry.

Give each important service a clear job

Choose the question a page should answer. “Can this firm repair my vehicle?” requires different information from “Can this firm plan a full refurbishment?” Combining unrelated services under a broad introduction makes the visitor work out the distinctions alone.

Explain who the service suits, what is included and what requires a separate discussion. Avoid presenting an exception as the normal offer. If a quote depends on an inspection, measurements or project details, say so and describe the next step without pretending every request can be priced immediately.

Put decision information beside the offer

Organise information in the order a customer needs it: suitability, practical scope, process, examples and contact. A long account of the company’s values may be less useful at that moment than the area covered or the materials available.

For a hypothetical interior-design service, useful details could include project types, what the first discussion covers and what the client should prepare. For a garage, accepted work and the booking process may matter more. These are content-planning examples, not claims about DPA client results.

Build an evidence checklist that matches the service

Use real photographs and accurately described work when available. Explain what the business actually did rather than attaching an unrelated success claim. Ask for permission where needed before using client material; do not invent a testimonial to fill an empty design component.

Test the mobile journey as a customer would

Read the page on a small screen. Can you find the service and contact details without dismissing several overlays? Are tables usable and key words visible? Try the chosen contact route and confirm that the intended business number or address is shown.

Use button labels that describe the action. A request to call should lead to the telephone number; a WhatsApp button should make the messaging destination clear. Opening an app is not a completed enquiry, so the business’s follow-up record still matters when evaluating the page.

Give the page an owner after launch

Assign responsibility for availability, service coverage, photographs and outdated offers. A well-written page can become misleading when the business changes and nobody updates it. Keep a small change record so that later enquiry patterns can be compared with what visitors actually saw.

DPA can discuss content structure and website design as part of a defined project. Bring the current pages and the questions customers ask. The first decision is which problem to solve and what material is needed, followed by the page scope, review responsibilities and launch checks.

  • Confirm the priority service and visitor question.
  • Collect accurate details and genuine examples.
  • Check the contact route on mobile.
  • Assign ongoing information updates.

Frequently asked questions

Does every service need its own page?

Only when a separate page can answer a distinct need with useful detail. Small variations may be clearer within one strong page than several nearly identical pages.

Can I use phone and WhatsApp instead of a form?

Yes. Choose contact routes the team can support, make their purpose clear and check their destinations. The enquiry process should fit the business and its customers.
